bygga muskler There is a little town called Oban for the west coast of Scotland which surrounds a bay and contains amazing scenery. The name is an english translation with the Gaelic "An Ob", which suggests 'Little bay' along with the town is now often known as the Gateway to the Isles. A prominent feature on this west cost jewel is McCaig's Tower which originally had begun construction in 1897 but stayed unfinished as soon as the death of their Visionary Jon S. McCaig. These days the walls of "the Folly" surround a Public Garden and afford breathtaking views of the Town and surrounding Islands. Another building of note would be St. Columba's cathedral that's found on Corran Esplanade, constructed in Pink Granite and it is design is neo-gothic however you like. An insight into centuries of Scottish history will be gained using a visit to the local Castles of Dunstaffnage and Dunollie. Of course no day at Scotland would be complete without having a visit to a Whiskey Distillery, Scotland's number one export, and Oban is privileged to possess its within the very center in the town. An interesting find, relating towards the neo-lithic period was found when workers expanding the distillery building in the cliff face uncovered a cave which contained Human remains and implements dated to about 4500 BC. |
